In celebration of the 17th National Electrification Awareness Month (NEAM) 2026, the Cagayan II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CAGELCO II) in partnership with the National Electrification Administration (NEA) conducted simultaneous environmental activities across its coverage area on August 28, 2026.

The activity brought together CAGELCO II’s Board Directors, employees, Member-Consumer-Owners and stakeholders in a collective effort to promote environmental protection and community responsibility. The simultaneous activities included tree and mangrove planting, power line clearing and coastal clean-up activities reflecting the Cooperative’s commitment to maintaining a safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible electric distribution system.

A total of 135 fruit bearing trees were sown in Masi, Pamplona and Padungsol, Gattaran, Cagayan, while 1,800 mangrove saplings were planted in San Vicente, Sta. Ana, Cagayan which aimed to contribute to reforestation and protection of coastal ecosystems.

Meanwhile, 23.33 kilometers of backbone lines were cleared of obstructing vegetation and tree branches that may pose risk to power lines and cause unscheduled power interruptions. Likewise, the clean-up activities along the shorelines of Nagattatan, Pamplona and Bagu, Abulug, Cagayan supported efforts to protect marine and coastal resources and promote cleaner communities.

Through these initiatives which are flagship activities of the Cooperative every month of August, CAGELCO II together with the NEA, reaffirmed that electrification goes beyond providing reliable electricity - it also entails caring for the environment and working hand in hand with communities toward sustainable development.
