466 Junior and Senior High School students from Abulug National Rural and Vocational High School in Abulug, Cagayan, and Bical National High School in Lal-lo, Cagayan, took part in CAGELCO II’s School Symposia held on August 25 and 26, 2026, respectively in celebration of the National Electrification Awareness Month (NEAM) which is observed every August to enhance awareness of the importance of electricity in our communities.

The activity aimed to deepen the students’ understanding of CAGELCO II’s role in delivering reliable electric service, basics of electrical safety, energy conservation, and effects of energy to climate change.

The symposium featured CAGELCO II personnel as resource speakers, namely Engr. John Paul Pagaduan, Energy Trading Section Head, who shared knowledge on how electricity reaches our homes; while Engr. Warren Angelo Paduit and Engr. Christian Angelo Ignacio, Operations and Maintenance Heads of LSO and APSO, respectively, discussed causes of Power Interruptions and Voltage Fluctuations.

Likewise, Engr. Florante Bariuan II, Technical Staff Auditor, tackled on Electrical Safety Tips, Ms. Krizzia Dale Villaflor, Member Services and Media Relations Officer, shared Kuryentipid Tips; and Engr. Kriem-Hill Benedick Siruno, Project Management and Planning Officer, discussed Climate Change and its effects in the Electrification Sector.

The activity was attended by CAGELCO II Board Director Gilda A. Rabanal (District III), Mr. Allan Onza, OIC Area Manager of Libertad Sub-Office (LSO); Ms. Princessita B. Pauig, Chief of the Member Services Division; Ms. Carmel Suetos, MISS Head of Aparri Sub-Office (APSO); and Mr. Albert Macapulay, MISS Head (LSO).

CAGELCO II extends its appreciation to the school principals, Dr. Concepcion Arnedo Magdaddun, and Dr. Daniel T. Aguida, for their support in advancing the cooperative’s goal of promoting electricity awareness among the youth.
